David Chilton is a doctoral candidate in the Macquarie School of Education, advised by Dr Kim Wilson and Dr Janet Dutton, as well as being an experienced history teacher and mentor of pre-service teachers. His research interests are focused on the teaching and learning of historical thinking skills and the new opportunities and challenges afforded to history teachers with the availability of new technologies.

Who we are?
Dr Kim Wilson is currently Interim Principal at MUSEC School and Senior Lecturer in the Macquarie University School of Education. Her research interests include mid-career transition to teaching; teacher attrition and retention; equity, inclusion and access to education; critical thinking in educational contexts; teacher professional learning in school-based research; and, the teaching and learning of historical literacy. Recent research projects include Accelerate MTeach Program- supporting STEM mid-career transition into the teaching profession; The effect of Flipped Learning as a pedagogical intervention strategy to increase the use of critical thinking skills; Practitioner Inquiry- the teacher as researcher, a professional learning model; NSW Equity Consortium- equity, inclusion and access to Higher Education.
Dr Janet Dutton has extensive experience in leadership and teaching roles in initial teacher education, as a leader of teacher professional development, and as Head Teacher in government and independent schools.
She has worked developing assessment and curriculum at national and state level organisations and was the Chief Examiner, English for the NSW Higher School Certificate, 2011-2016.
Dr. Gavin Hazel is an established figure in the fields of mental health and education, currently serving as the Lecturer at Macquarie School of Education. He is dedicated to raising awareness about social and emotional wellbeing among children and young people and translating research evidence into practical applications. Dr. Hazel has led several Commonwealth and State initiatives aimed at supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young Australians.
